Mariela Rizo

About Me

Mariela is a project management expert at IMPACTO, where she focuses on supporting socially responsible businesses and organizations in achieving their strategic goals while ensuring optimal impact. She has developed and executed effective project plans ensuring agile execution and quality assurances delivered timely and within budget constraints. Mariela has extensive experience in planning, coordinating, and managing financial and administrative operations in support of strategic business goals. She is an expert at advising and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and guidelines.

Currently, she is leading projects aimed at workplan development for green initiatives pursuant to funding in Europe and those completing their applications by January 2021. This includes strategic research focused on establishing potential opportunities to integrate into future green initiatives in the U.S. and Latin America.

Mariela has worked for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group for seven years. She worked with IDB Invest supporting and managing the execution of financial resources, anticipating business needs, and delivering information relevant to business decision-making. Mariela actively supported business process improvements in various areas to ensure efficiency was achieved. She advised teams on how to enhance processes involving the procurement of contracts, personnel recruitment, and onboarding of employees. She led initiatives aimed at improving career growth and opportunities while effectively presenting them to the CEO and Management Teams.

Prior to this, she joined the competitiveness and innovation sector of IDB. She supported the approval and execution of sovereign guarantee loans and technical assistance operations valued at over $240 million. In this sector, she guided teams developing proposals and reports to be presented to boards, ensuring quality and deadlines were met for approval.

Mariela holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
